2019 International Week Festival

March 10 – 16, 2019

Join us for the annual International Week Food Fair. Enjoy delectable foods from around the world, made by our amazing volunteers!


The International Week Festival is Shorewood Hills Elementary School PTO’s main event for the year! It’s a school and community-wide event that was created to celebrate our incredible diversity. This year, the International Festival will kick off on Sunday, March 10th with the art activities at Eagle Heights and culminate with the Global Village and the International Food Fair on Saturday, March 16th. The Parade and Performances will be held mid-week on Wednesday, March 13th.


Doll Display all week long:

March 1st through March 31st in the library display case

Dolls from all over the world will be on display for the entire month of March. If you are interested in sharing your doll for the display please fill out this form and bring it with your doll to the main office:

Sunday, March 10, 1-3pm: Art Activities at Eagle Heights, 1-3pm

Children gather to create life size self portraits! All of the artwork will then be put on display in the school for the week. No sign up necessary, just stop in and create your portrait!

Wednesday, March 13, 9am and 6pm: International Week Parade

Children can get dressed up in traditional clothing and walk across the stage to showcase their clothing. Children can participate in both the parade and performance. Sign up here to participate in the parade:

Children have the opportunity to perform traditional songs, dances, martial arts, and more from different countries around the world. Interested in participating? Sign up here:

Wednesday, March 13th 5-6pm, First Annual Global Market

During the evening performances we will host our first Global Market. There school families will be selling unique and culturally diverse items to our community. Some examples of items may include packaged snacks, crafts, decorative pieces, clothing items, jewelry, etc.  This is a free event and all are welcome to browse. Saturday, March 16th, 11am: International Food Fair

The Food Fair transforms the school into an AMAZING international restaurant – with wonderful food from around the world- prepared by families and friends of the school.  The International Food Fair has become the most popular event at the school and HUNDREDS of people pass through the doors on that day to sample our food and feel the incredible international environment! This event takes MANY volunteers to make it a success.  Please consider cooking a dish for this event and/or volunteering your time. Click here to learn more:

Saturday, March 16, 11am-2pm: Global Village
Global Village is a wonderful opportunity for students and families to learn about other countries. During the event our school’s classrooms will be transformed into country displays with posters, artwork, coins, clothing, jewelry, and more from various countries. Visitors can travel from room to room, participating in hands-on activities and filling a passport with stamps as they go. Learn the various ways to contribute to this event here:
